The morgadinho is a small pastry made with sugar, almond, egg yolk and pumpkin jam, which makes this delicacy so original! This small dome-shaped sweet is covered with a sugar icing. You will find morgadinho in many local cafes that offer it as an accompaniment to hot drinks.
Fig and carob tart
Just like the almond tree, the carob tree is a tree very present in the Algarve and used in the region's cuisine. The fig and carob tart was born from the abundance of this tree and looks visually like a chocolate tart because of the dark colour of this ingredient. It is a unique speciality that you will find almost only in the Algarve!

The almond is a must in Portugal and the Algarve region. You will find many cakes, but also drinks made from this ingredient. The almond is present in all its forms and for our greatest pleasure! The sweet potato cake
Originally from the town of Aljezur, this traditional pastry is appreciated by everyone in the Algarve. The sweet potato has always been harvested and used in many sweet and savoury dishes. The Dom Rodrigo
Dom Rodrigo is undoubtedly the most famous sweet recipe in the Algarve. The name of this delicacy comes from a monk who created the recipe in a monastery in Lagos. This pastry is made with almonds, sugar and egg yolk threads. You will be able to taste Dom Rodrigo in almost all the cafes of the region but also in the pastries that sell it in multicoloured packaging.
